Bashar Assad says Syrian army’s firepower unaffected by US strike

Syrian President Bashar Assad

Syrian President Bashar Assad said the recent US missile strike on a Syrian airbase did not affect the Syrian army’s firepower.

“Our firepower, our ability to attack the terrorists hasn’t been affected by this strike,” Assad told AFP in an interview on Wednesday.

Last week, the United States launched multiple Tomahawk cruise missiles at the military airfield in Ash Sha’irat. US President Donald Trump said that the attack was a response to the alleged chemical weapon use in Syria’s Idlib on Tuesday, which Washington blames on the Syrian government.
