‘We are going to save Yazidi women held in Raqqa as slaves’: YPJ commander Rojda Felat

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) are a part of, launched the 3rd phase of the Wrath of Euphrates operation to take Raqqa from the Islamic State (ISIS) group on 3rd January.

Hundreds of Yazidi women kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery in 2014 are thought to be held in Raqqa.

YPJ commander Rojda Felat told journalists they would “liberate Yazidi women held as slaves in Raqqa,” and free the IS stronghold in a “woman’s fashion”.
