How To Start Playing Fortnite
Once you have logged into Fortnite using your Epic account you’ll see a small popup asking if you’d like to join a session. You can either decline, join, or leave the room immediately. If you decide to join a session you will see the following screen:
Now that you’ve joined a session, you can move on to the next step. You will need to create a matchmaking lobby and invite anyone you want to play with. Here is how:

- Enter your gamertag in the search box.
- Scroll through the results until you locate who you wish to invite.
- Hit confirm.

- After creating a session you can wait for everyone to arrive. When they do, you have two options:
- You can create a private match.
- You can create a public session.
If you choose to create a private match, you will be given a specific amount of time to finish the game. On the other hand, a public session doesn’t give you any restrictions. You can continue on your own schedule.
When you’re ready to play, simply press the button below the map. You will now be transported to the battle bus, where you can choose your outfit, weapon, and character. You should then select your preferred camera angle and enter the battlefield. As soon as you do you will be greeted with a warning message from your opponent. You can read it and accept or ignore it as you normally would.

On your way back to the lobby you may come across someone who wants to join. You can either decline their request or allow them to join. However, if you choose to decline another person will automatically join the lobby instead.

Solo battles allow you to fight against AI opponents until you reach the max level of the challenge, which can vary depending on the difficulty. Play Online With Friends
Even though you can create lobbies and join sessions with strangers, most people prefer to play with friends. Unfortunately, due to the popularity of the game, finding a friend to play with can sometimes be difficult.
Fortunately, Epic Games has made it easy to connect with your friends. All you have to do is visit the Friends section on your profile page. Here, you can view your friends list as well as check on their activity. You can also send them messages, chat with them, and invite them to join a game.
However, before heading into the lobby, it is important to ensure you can trust your friends. Luckily, Epic Games makes it very easy to verify whether your friends are trustworthy or not. Just click the “Verify Friend” button to check on their status. If you see a green checkmark, then you can proceed to the lobby.
Just remember that you cannot play in a lobby with someone that has a “Verified By Epic” (VBU) tag. This means that Epic Games has verified that the person is safe to play with.
