Iranian politician: USA cannot overstep Iran’s red lines in the region

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the Chairman for the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security in the Iranian parliament

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the Chairman for the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security in the Iranian parliament, has said that Iran will not allow for anyone to exceed the red lines it has put in place for the region.

Speaking to Al Mayadeen TV, Boroujerdi said that there was very little chance of a military confrontation between Iran and the USA but that “the Americans always want to deal a blow to Iran and its allies, but is consistently unsuccessful in doing so. Boroujerdi then warned, “the USA cannot overstep Iran’s red lines in the region”.

“The USA has no fixed policy towards Iran,” Boroujerdi claimed, “they are just unhappy that Iran is currently in a strong position in the region both militarily and politically”.

The Iranian politician told Al Mayadeen that his country did not want to fight anyone, but was more than capable of defending itself against any attack and that the USA was well aware of Iran’s capabilities.

Tensions between the two countries have been simmering since Donald Trump took office with statements filled with warnings, and in some cases threats, going back and forth.
