The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said in a statement on Monday that US President Donald Trump’s visa ban on refugees and citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries would fuel extremism.
The OIC, in a statement on its website said, “such selective and discriminatory acts will only serve to embolden the radical narratives of extremists.
“(The move) will provide further fuel to the advocates of violence and terrorism at a critical time when the OIC has been engaged with all partners, including the US, to combat extremism and terrorism in all their forms and manifestations.”
The OIC also called upon the United States government to reconsider what it called a “blanket decision and “maintain its moral obligation to provide leadership and hope at a time of great uncertainty and unrest in the world.”
The group represents 57 Muslim states and according to its website works to safeguard the interests and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims.
