Zarina Nurullayeva, the wife of Istanbul nightclub attacker Abdulgadir Masharipov, has given detailed information about the Islamic State during her interrogation by Turkish prosecutors.

Nurullayeva was arrested soon after the new year’s eve night club attack, which left 39 people dead and more than 60 injured, and imprisoned in Istanbul on the charge of ‘being the member of armed terrorist organisation’.

According to Turkish daily Hurriyet, Nurullayeva told prosecutors, “we came to Turkey from Iran through illegal ways. Three days before the incident, my husband left home and that happened. After the incident, I was taken to another home by my husband’s friends. I asked them about my husband and they told me that I was asking too much.”

Nurullayeva also claimed that her son had been kidnapped by IS militants.

“Before I was taken into custody, two men came and took my son. They said they will take him to Iran and my husband knows about it. My husband declared that he obeyed to IS in Pakistan. I said ‘there is no IS in Pakistan, who did you speak to?’ He told me that he had met the representative of IS in Pakistan. He also told me that we had to go to Syria, I refused him.”

“After the incident, when my husband’s friend came, I was told to mourn for my husband. They told me ‘your husband has done great things.'”

Nurullayeva also claimed she has no relationship with IS. She requested her son be found at the prosecutor’s office.
