‘Kill Erdogan’ banner in Switzerland under criminal investigation

A criminal investigation was launched by Bern-Mitteland regional public prosecutor’s office on Sunday after a banner writing “kill Erdogan with his own weapons” was unfurled at a demonstration in Swiss capital Bern on Saturday.

According to Bern’s police spokesperson Dominik Jaggi, the banner is under investigation for “publicly inciting violence and criminal activity,” but no arrests have been made so far.

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry had issued a statement protesting the banner and called upon Swiss officials to take action.

A separate criminal investigation was launched on Monday by Istanbul’s chief prosecutor for “propaganda for a terrorist organisation,” “membership to a terrorist organisation” and “insulting the President.”
