Kurdish school in Turkey demolished by military

A school set up in 2014 by the Kurdish Language Research and Development Association (KURDI-DER) in the Yalaza village in Southeast Turkey was demolished by Turkish military on Thursday.

A curfew was declared in the village, located in the Lice district of the Diyarbakir province, as well as 14 other villages in the area. According to reports, military personnel arrived early in the morning and began demolishing the 4-floor building with a digger.

Protests had pushed back the prosecutor of Lice’s decision to demolish the school in 2014.
