Police shot and killed a man at the Kurdish New Year celebration in Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakir city on Tuesday.
The man was carrying a knife and refused to have his bag searched by police at the entrance of the celebration area, Turkish media reported.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning between 06:00 and 07:00 before thousands of people began arriving at the concert.
According to eyewitnesses police fired in the air first and then at the suspect as he began to flee. The man was taken to hospital where he died shortly after.
