The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have captured two important locations from the Islamic State in Tabqa.
Fighters of the Kurdish-Arab majority SDF completely took the al-Wahab neighbourhood, one of the biggest in the small city, and also a radio station in the northwest according to ANF news agency.

At least 20 jihadists were killed in two day clashes while another 10 were captured, the report said. The US-led coalition conducted six airstrikes in the area.
US military sources have said there are approximately 700 IS militants trapped in Tabqa, which is 55 km west of the group’s last stronghold in Syria, Raqqa.
Speculation has been rife as to whether the SDF, which is led by the Kurdish People’s Units (YPG), would continue with the operations to capture Tabqa and Raqqa following Tuesday’s Turkish airstrikes targeting the group’s headquarter’s in northeastern Syria.
