SDF crosses Euphrates west of Raqqa under coalition air cover

Reports on Wednesday said US-led coalition airstrikes hit the city of al-Tabqah (also known as al-Thawrah) located west of Raqqa, while the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) crossed the Euphrates river by boat landing in Abu Hurayrah village in the western countryside of al-Tabqah.

Sources say the SDF moved from the area around the castle in Qal’at Ja’bar on the northern side of the river. Forces and supplies may also have been deployed by plane. Taking the city of al-Tabqah and the nearby dam would cut off an important route to Raqqa.
