Syria denounces Turkish airstrikes, calls for UN action

Syria’s Foreign Ministry has denounced Turkish airstrikes targeting Kurdish forces in the country’s northeast on Tuesday, state-run news agency SANA reported.

An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said “Syria denounces in the strongest of terms the blatant aggression carried out by Erdogan’s regime on Syrian territory… claiming the lives of scores of innocent Syrian civilians.”

The source added that the strikes violate international law and called on the UN to condemn the aggression.

According to reports two civilians were killed in the airstrikes alongside 20 Kurdish fighters, however this is yet to be confirmed by local groups.
