Syrian Army regains control over IS stronghold in Aleppo province

The Syrian army has regained control over Maskanah town in the east of Syria’s Aleppo province, defeating the biggest stronghold of the Islamic State (IS) in the area, a Syrian military source told Sputnik Saturday.

“The government troops and allied forces regained full control over Maskanah, destroying the biggest stronghold of IS,” the source said.

According to the source sappers have already started defusing mines in the settlement.
