This man just received news of his nephew’s death from al-Bab, Syria

“We don’t know why we’re fighting and what for,” says the uncle of Turkish soldier killed in al-Bab.

Mahmut Uslu (25) was a tank commander participating in Turkey’s Euphrates Shield operation against the Islamic State (ISIS) and Kurdish forces in Syria.

He was killed in clashes with the jihadist group on 8th February 2017.

The soldier’s uncle Veysel Oguz questioned why his nephew had been sent to Syria and why Turkish officials had not tackled the threat of the the Islamic State group earlier.
