Turkey referendum: opposition party says state-run media manipulating results

Turkey’s opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has released a statement on social media saying the state-run Anadolu (AA) news agency is manipulating the live results of the country’s constitutional referendum.

“Do not trust the Anadolu Ageny’s results, don’t leave the ballot boxes” the HDP headquarters Twitter account tweeted, calling on party observers not to leave polling stations.

The main opposition CHP also made the same call to its observers and said the decision by the Supreme Electoral Board to count unstamped ballot papers valid as overshadowing the legitimacy of the election.

The latest results by the AA show the ‘Yes’ vote at 55.71% and the ‘No’ vote at 44.29% with 63.4% of all ballots opened as of 17:30 local time.
