The highest ranked military officers of Turkey, the USA and Russia met today in the southern Turkish city of Antalya to discuss continuing operations in Syria and Iraq.
Turkey’s Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar, US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford and the Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces arrived yesterday at the Regnum Carya Golf & SPA Resort Hotel in Antalya.
Security precautions were heightened at the hotel which also hosted the G-20 summit in November 2015.
According to a statement released by the Turkish Army’s Presidency of General Staff on its website, “The generals spoke about joint topics regarding the security of the region, primarily in Iraq and Syria.”
The meeting comes amid intensifying military and diplomatic activity in and around the northern Syrian town of Manbij where the Turkish, American and Russian armies are all active and supporting opposing groups on the ground.
