US missile strikes on Syrian airfield killed six people, Syrian Armed Forces General Staff said Friday in a statement.
“[It was] aggression against one of our military airbases in the central district. The missile strikes resulted in killing six people, several others were injured, considerable material damage was caused,” the statement read.
On Thursday night, the United States launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the Syrian military airfield in Ash Sha’irat, located about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the city of Homs. US President Donald Trump said the attack was a response to the alleged chemical weapon use in Syria’s Idlib on Tuesday, which Washington blames on the Syrian government.
Earlier in the day, Homs Governor Talal Barazi had told Sputnik that at least two civilians were killed and seven were injured as a result of the strikes.
